Finn's Birthday Party

Let's be honest, Ben and I can't finish anything without a deadline. So we scheduled a BBQ / Birthday Party to show off our backyard. We got it done just in time. Friday night after Finn's Birthday we had friends make the trek to Daybreak to eat and watch Finn eat cake.

Finn protecting his new toys from Patrick.

Finn's Cousin's Ben and Roxy came up from Springville to celebrate.

Finn's favorite cuddler Becca stopped by to hold a very sleepy Finn. And eventually have him pass out in her arms. Lucky Becca.

Presents

I have gotten really horrible lately with keeping presents until the appropriate day. Ben got his Father's Day present 3 days early. Keeping up with my new tradition, Finn got his presents early, basically right when I got home from Toy's R Us the other night. I figured this year, he doesn't know the difference, next year will be a little different.

They were a success!

Cupcakes for School

Finn will probably be the most popular kid at school today because of these beauties.

Happy Birthday Finn!

Finn is one today! Crazy how fast time goes by. It seems like I was just up all night with a newborn a few weeks ago.

Our little nugget:

Crawls like crazy
Cruises on Furniture
In the process of learning to stand up from sitting with no help
Talks gibberish all day long
Loves banging things on the tile to make noises (or grandma's wood coffee table, sorry mom)
Weighs 26 pounds
Height unknown (one year checkup is next week)
Loves all food
Loves door stoppers and air grates (again, the noise)
Gives great open mouth kisses, even to Oscar
Claps
Sings in the car (like mom and dad)
Makes the BEST surprised faces
Jumps in his crib
Loves water, sometimes he'll even put his face under
Will not stay still to change his diaper or clothes
Has a great fake cry
Loves being outside and going for walks
Has 2 top and 2 bottom teeth, keep fingers away!
Waves bye bye
Cries when mom and dad leave (just started this week)

Ben and I both went into his room this morning and sang to him. He loved it.

My favorite plant

This is my favorite bush in our yard. The home builder put it in, so I have no idea what it is. We almost ripped it out, because we thought it was dead. I'm so glad we didn't.

Anyways, anyone know what this is? It's a bush that just has really long sticks/branches coming from the ground up. I love the white flowers.

Yard Work

We have finally (kinda) gotten our backyard done. We have one side, that we aren't finishing right now, because we don't have a fence, and our neighbors haven't done anything to their yard. So it isn't worth it. Our front needs a little help still and bark. But I think we've spent our max this year.

We finished the patio, planted some more plants and laid bark. It looks so good. We seriously worked non-stop all weekend and my body is aching.

Happy Fathers Day!

Sunday I let Ben sleep in for Father's Day, and by sleeping in I mean 9:00. I made Biscuits and Gravy and then Finn and I went down for nap-time.

Later, we met up with all the Selph's at Copperton Park for a BBQ. It was a perfect, beautiful day just to sit under trees for hours, eat hamburgers, and catch butterflies.

Demo Derby

Saturday night Ben was supposed to go with my brothers and dad to the Demolition Derby in Riverton. Funny enough, Teri and Mark had the same idea. So we all went and had a big group of 12 taking up the whole back row of one of the bleacher stands.

The cars were great, there were some ruthless hits. The crowd watching may have been even better than the cars.

Finn loved the cars and noises. Teri did have to protect him from dirt clods spraying us once. It seriously felt like rocks being thrown at us.

I have a few photos, but I'll update when I get more pictures from Teri.

Summer is Finally Here.

Saturday we woke up early, watched Notting Hill while eating breakfast, worked on the patio for a few hours (got sunburned), then decided to play.

We finally got Finn's bike trailer put together and hooked up. Finn loved it, as long as we kept moving.

After a short and hot bike ride, we stripped Finn down and let him play on his new Li'l Squirt Pool. He liked it when the water was turned down, I think the water was a little cold for the big fountains splashing in his face.
