Summer Eating

With all the food co-ops and CSA's (consumer supported agriculture) I've signed up for this summer, we are getting tons of veggies.

Luckily for Finn, that means CORN! And luckily for us, daycare usually has to change his diaper the next day.

Things I'm Grateful For.

Christina tagged me with a post of 5 things I'm grateful for. Most of these are pretty obvious....

1. Ben. First lets say, I'm amazed at single moms, I could never do this on my own. 2nd, I don't know how moms even do it with an average husband. I could not survive if Ben didn't wake up the majority of the time with Finn. I need my sleep, I guess that is where Finn gets it (see below).

2. Finn. We are blessed with the healthiest(25 lbs) and happiest baby. Finn has the best personality and is so easy going, except when he is hungry or tired, with good reason.

3. The rest of my family. (Sorry for the cheesiness) I have the best family, immediate and extended. On both my side and Ben's side. I think it's rare for people to love all their extended family and in-laws as much as I do.

4. My house. I love my house and my neighborhood. I feel so safe with my neighbors and although the HOA are Natzi's, I'd rather be constantly harassed about my garbage can, if that means my neighbors can't have a 1982 Mercedes with no tires parked in their driveway for 10 years.

5. Modern Technology. Not to say I don't love a good camping trip, but this camping is much better when I'm able to drive up to the spot, unload my nice 4-wheel drive car full of coolers, use lighters, flashlights, and toilets (if available). Many things fall under this category and the list could go on forever. Hot water, Air Conditioning, Kraft Mac & Cheese, Grey's Anatomy, disposable diapers, The Office, Sour Cream (not really, I threw that in for Justin), movies.... I think you get the picture (and that reminds me, digital cameras).

6. I'm just too grateful to only have 5. I'm grateful for my other baby Oscar. He provides us with so much amusement and keeps me warm at night. I was worried with him around Finn, but he loves him and is a great helper cleaning up after Finn's meals. (might be the reason he loves Finn)

I'm very embarrassed...

So over the past few weeks, there has been this new Ashley Simpson song on the radio that I have just loved. I am a little embarrassed that I love Ashley Simpson, but not as embarrassed as I am now that I found out that she does not sing this song.

Sadly it is Miley Cyrus. I guess deep down inside I am a 13 year old girl, at least I have the same taste in music.

Anyways, I need to track down a 13 year old so I can copy this CD. The song is called See You Again and it's from the Hannah Montana 2 CD.

Fun Filled Weekend

We had a busy weekend.

Friday night we went to Red Robin with Ben's family. DeeAnne was in town for a few days to see her favorite grandbaby. They have this new burger that is swimming in goat cheese. It was the best thing ever.

Saturday morning my family had Melissa's baby shower / Mckay's birthday party / Aunt Janette's birthday party. Any family member (cousins, aunts and uncles) that lives in the Salt Lake or Utah Valley area came up. It was a crazy party with millions of kids screaming. But so fun.

We got a few of the kids in their halloween costumes. Here is Yara (ladybug), Finn (Doggy) and Gideon (Dragon).

Here's best friends Yara and Mackenzie, this shows how crazy this party was!

After the party, I ditched Ben and headed to a boutique with my cousin Noelle. I didn't buy anything, but I found some really cute ideas. Someday I'll get around to making them.

Ben went and picked up Oscar who got a haircut.

Later in the evening we went to South Towne Mall to take back an outfit that DeeAnne bought Finn. Thanks anyways DeeAnne! We ended up with a few cute shirts and a pair of pajamas.

Finally we got home around 7:00, ate dinner and plopped in front of the TV for the rest of the night.

She thinks my tractor's sexy...

Tonight we finally went to the Pumpkin Patch by our house. They have set it up so cute. They have about a dozen different tractor's that you can sit on. Ben and Finn look so manly on their tractor.

These pictures are dark, but here is a far away picture of the tractor.

Thousands of pumpkins!

Cute Uncle Jake, probably sad because he couldn't find the perfect pumpkin.

So, we got home kinda late after dinner, and all the pumpkins are in the back of my car still. I'll post a picture when I put them outside. We got like 6 pumpkin's for $11. So cheap!

Finn's

Yesterday I took Finn to Finn's. I've been wanting to go there since we had Finn and I finally went. I went with my good friends Sharae, Rochelle and Helen.

I had the Eggs Benedict. It was fantastic. I highly suggest it. Anywhere that serves the best meal of the day, breakfast, is number 1 in my book!

DVR doing overtime

This week all of the new season's have started. Ben and I love TV and since we got DVR it helps us watch more of it, in less time. Only problem is, there are way too many shows. I'm sure we'll narrow them down eventually but right now our DVR is out of control. I seriously don't know how we are ever going to catch up. Since Finn was born, we have much less time to sit around and do nothing.

Last year our top shows were Lost, The Office, Grey's Anatomy, Desperate Housewifes, Hero's, Beauty and the Geek, How I met your Mother, 2 and a Half Men, It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia and My Name is Earl. We haven't even watched all of these yet.

Now we have ShowTime so Weeds and Californication has been added to that list.

Now there are millions of new shows that look pretty good, so I have the DVR set to record: Dirty Sexy Money, Carpoolers, Big Bang Theory, Private Practice, Big Shots, and Chuck.

Hopefully some of these are just awful so we don't need to watch them every week. I've already heard Private Practice wasn't fantastic. (Thanks Natalie) So any feedback on any of these other shows that I shouldn't waste my time on, would be great. Chuck might end up being horrible, but I read yesterday that Summer (Rachel Bilson) is joining the cast. So they've already got me hooked, just like Weeds got me hooked with Mary Kate.

Music to my ears

Last night Ben and I left Finn at home with Jake and drove downtown to The Depot. On our favorite bands The New Pornographers were playing. We got to the venue at around 8:30 and sat through 2 opening bands. The first band, The Awkward Stage was so good. I bought their CD to support this new, amazing group. 2nd band, Lavender Diamond, might have been good, but the lead's voice was so soft you could barely hear her. She was really crazy though and talked in between each song for about 10 minutes. She was probably the weirdest person I'd ever listened to.

Finally at around 10pm, The New Pornographers came on. They were so good. Neko Case, one of the singers has the most unique and beautiful voice. They have such a great sound and there are so many talented singers in the group, they rotate through all of them.

We finally left for home at 11:30 so we got home so late. Finn slept the whole time for Jake so it was a great night for everyone.

Harry Potter

Last night for our anniversary date we decided to go to a movie. We looked at our options and the movie that no one else was seeing was Harry Potter. Since we took Finn, we wanted to be alone in the theater just in case he started crying. We were pretty lucky, until the movie started and 5 people walked in. He was really good for most of the movie, then just at the worst moment...

he decided to start crying. I ran off to the side and only missed a split second of the kiss. I would have been devastated to miss this huge moment in cinematic history. I seriously had no idea they totally made out for a few minutes. I was expecting a peck!

After I got Finn settled down, he layed in Ben's arms wide awake and stared at the movie screen for the next half an hour. I guess he loves the Harry Potter movies as much as we do. He finally feel asleep and was perfect for the rest of the movie. I'm sure the other people in the audience were annoyed. But at least we tried to be curtious.
